Biokinetics and PBPK Scientist

We are looking for an experienced individual to join our team to become an integral part of an exciting new Center at ToxStrategies. This Center will be dedicated to advancing 21st century toxicology tools and technologies to support risk-based safety decisions in compound discovery and regulation.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team incorporating new approach methods (NAMs) in kinetics and metabolism into modern safety assessment. She or he will support clients from various sectors, including the chemical, consumer product, food, agrichemical, and pharmaceutical industries and consortia, based on her/his expertise with in vitro-to-in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, and quantitative IVIVE (QIVIVE).

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Development, validation, and documentation (including writing manuscripts) of custom (de novo) PBPK models and adaptation of existing models for new applications
  2. Development and implementation of rapid PBPK and IVIVE methods
  3. Translation of existing models and methods across scripting languages
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Ph.D. with a major in pharmaceutical sciences (preferred), pharmacokinetics (preferred), toxicology, pharmacology, bio-engineering, computer science, biostatistics, or other related disciplines, with a rigorous foundation in applied and quantitative science.
  2. Substantial experience and knowledge in pharmacokinetics, including study design for in vivo and/or in vitro experiments for chemicals and pharmaceuticals, in encompass non-traditional formulations (e.g., nanoparticle-based drug delivery system) and data interpretation
  3. PBPK modeling experience
  4. Strong publication/presentation record in PBPK modeling and IVIVE, evaluation of potentially sensitive populations, in vitro kinetic/enzyme ontogeny data collection and analysis, IVIVE applications to margin-of-safety analysis using high-throughput bioactivity screening results and fit-for-purpose cell-based assay results, application of PBPK modeling techniques to interpret human biomarker data, including those from epidemiology studies
  5. Familiarity with computational modeling, including, but not limited to, PK, PBPK, DMPK, and QSAR
  6. Experience with at least one programming or scripting language and with computational modeling
  7. Experience working with biological data from pharmacokinetic, toxicity, metabolism, and pharmacology studies, both in vivo and in vitro (either computationally or experimentally)
  8. Candidates must have strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate
  9. Flexibility in work environmen,t including remote-working and home-based office
