Director/Vice President of Operations

ToxStrategies LLC is seeking a dynamic Director/Vice President of Operations to lead and evolve the Division’s operational strategy, infrastructure, and execution. This executive will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for aligning day-to-day operations with long-term strategic goals, driving operational excellence, and supporting the continued growth of the Division across practice areas.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of operational leadership within a consulting or scientific services environment, demonstrated success in scaling complex organizations, and a deep understanding of creating, evolving, and managing processes, people, and resources to achieve business objectives. This position will report directly to the President of ToxStrategies LLC, and collaborates closely with the Managing Principal(s), Practice Area Leaders, and other cross-divisional peers.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the operational strategy that aligns with the Division’s long-term vision and growth. Serve as a thought partner to the President and executive leadership on Division-wide strategic planning.
  • Operational Oversight: Lead the daily operations across all practice areas and service lines, ensuring systems, processes, and teams are aligned for maximum effectiveness and scalability.
  • Organizational Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Process Innovation: Identify and implement transformative operational improvements across the organization, including workflow optimization, resource planning, quality control, and cross-functional coordination. Identify, develop, and implement operational best practices that enhance productivity and reduce costs. Lead initiatives to standardize processes and workflows.
  • Performance Management: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics. Use data to drive decision-making and report results to executive stakeholders.
  • Client Services & Delivery Support: Oversee operational components of client service delivery, including onboarding, contract and billing processes, service quality monitoring, and client engagement workflows.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all operational procedures comply with relevant regulatory standards and client expectations, particularly in regulated life sciences industries.
  • Technology & Systems Integration: Partner with other business departments to optimize and scale technology platforms (e.g., ERP, project management, and billing systems).
  • Financial Collaboration: Work closely with Finance and Accounting on budgeting, forecasting, billing cycles, vendor relationships, and operational cost control initiatives.
  • Executive Communication: Serve as a bridge between operational teams and executive leadership, facilitating transparency, issue escalation, and organizational alignment.
  • Special Projects: Lead strategic initiatives and transformation projects as assigned by the President or BlueRidge Life Sciences Executive team.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration with an MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in operations management, with at least five (5) years in a senior or executive level role (Director or above).
  • Deep knowledge of operational frameworks, systems thinking, and business process optimization.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across levels and functions.
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and adaptable to a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Visio, Monday.com) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
