ToxStrategies LLC is seeking a toxicologist, environmental health scientist, or risk assessment professional to join our expanding Causation Analysis consulting practice. The position involves application of the risk assessment paradigm to comprehensively evaluate potential human health risks associated with exposures to chemicals in foods, consumer products, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and environmental media (air, water, soil, and sediments). The successful candidate will have academic course work covering chemistry, toxicology, environmental health, risk assessment, exposure assessment, statistics, and chemical fate and transport mechanisms.
On a daily basis, responsibilities will involve reviewing toxicological data, constructing exposure assessments, and performing human health risk assessments to determine general and specific causation. A significant component of the position will involve technical writing in the form of case summaries, reports, and scientific manuscripts, as well as verbal communication via presentations and teleconferences. This role requires skillful attention to detail, collaboration with project team members, and independent thinking to approach research questions. This position includes assisting with quantitative methods such as data gathering, cleaning and manipulation, environmental modeling, and exposure and risk calculations.
The position involves regular collaboration on multidisciplinary teams that may include toxicologists, epidemiologists, industrial hygienists, engineers, and biostatisticians, many of whom are recognized as leaders in their respective fields. Active participation in the scientific community such as presenting at professional meetings (e.g., AIHCE, ISES, SOT, SRA, SETAC), serving on committees, and publishing scientific manuscripts is strongly encouraged.

Scientists in our Exposure Assessment Practice provide consulting services to public and private-sector clients around the world. Our work involves providing clients with scientific, strategic, and regulatory expertise in the assessment of chemicals in the environment, foods, consumer products, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s degree in toxicology, environmental science, or a related science degree (e.g., industrial hygiene, environmental health, public health).
- 0 – 3 years of experience in exposure and human health risk assessment, experience (work or academic) in applying concepts of or performing chemical exposure and human health risk assessment is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to detail and effective time management skills.
- Quantitative and data analysis skills including proficiency with Excel or R; experience with GIS is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams; experience leading project tasks or teams is a plus.
- Ability to travel (may be required approximately 5%–10% of the time).
