Dr. Chris Bartlett is a Managing Scientist in ToxStrategies’ Health Sciences practice. He has over 20 years of experience conducting risk assessments and providing strategic regulatory toxicology consulting support. His background assessing materials and finished consumer products spans biotechnology, consumer product companies, and government agencies. Dr. Bartlett’s expertise covers all aspects of product stewardship, from assessing chemicals and formulations, hazard and safety labelling, maintaining guidelines, and setting strategies for testing protocols. He is committed to making safer products possible by creating tools and processes to incorporate novel new approach methodologies (NAMs) and next generation risk assessment (NGRA) approaches to drive effective toxicological reviews. In roles supporting government agencies, leading brands, and non-governmental organizations, Dr. Bartlett has helped navigate the space between toxicology and policy to improve product safety and adjust review processes to unlock new efficiencies.
Dr. Bartlett’s skills include leading multidisciplinary scientific teams to address emerging health and safety issues. As an experienced program and project manager, Dr. Bartlett has conducted systematic literature reviews involving analyzing and interpreting complex scientific data to evaluate health effects and data gaps in public health investigations. He has also led the safety review of innovative and complex materials to find potentially safer alternative chemicals.
Before joining ToxStrategies, Dr. Bartlett served as a principal toxicology consultant at several private firms, where he provided subject matter expert support to multiple government agencies, including the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He has aided drug submission review, spearheaded cosmetic product safety programs, helped develop a chemical hazard repository software platform for identifying safer alternatives, and prepared and defended safety dossiers for product registration with various international regulatory agencies.
