ToxStrategies scientists Julie Panko, Liz Mittal, and Kara Franke assessed potential worker exposures to 1,3-butadiene during chemical manufacturing and processing of the substance as a reactant. This industry–wide exposure assessment involved the systematic collection, compilation, and analysis of more than 6,700 personal air sample results from facilities across the United States. The data set provides robust quantitative air concentration data and exposure control information to support assessment of occupational exposures to 1,3-butadiene during its manufacture and processing as a reactant.
