EPA TSCA Future Prioritization List Updated

On September 30 and October 1, 2024, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held two virtual public meetings to provide information regarding existing chemical pre-prioritization and prioritization activities under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Prioritization is the initial step in the process of evaluating existing chemicals under TSCA and implementing regulations, and it takes EPA 9–12 months to complete. The purpose of this process is to designate a chemical substance as being either high priority, which requires immediate further risk evaluation, or low priority, a determination for which risk evaluation is not warranted at the time (Public Engagement Webinars; Pre-Prioritization and Consideration of Existing Chemical Substances for Future Prioritization Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)).

The list of candidate chemical substances currently under consideration for future prioritization (see Table below) was presented during the webinar. The agency is soliciting comments and information regarding the candidate chemicals until October 31, 2024, to help it determine which of those chemical substances should undergo prioritization in the near term. (Pre-prioritization of Existing Chemical Substances Under the Toxic Substances Control Act). ToxStrategies can assist in ensuring the EPA has accurate information from your industry as it prioritizes these candidate chemicals and later conducts risk evaluations.
